Vision for Learning

Welcome to Bona Bolo Eye Care

Background
Bona Bolo identify schools (preferably quintile 1) who has not received eye care services through school health program. We invite local optometrists in the area to participate in the screening of children in their neighbourhood to build relationships and sustainable services. Bona bolo also engage unemployed youth with matric to serve as non-clinical volunteers during the screening process. Learners found with refractive errors are referred to local optometrist for refractions and Bona Bolo provides spectacles that are dispensed by the refracting optometrist. Since 2010, Bona Bolo has screened over 9000 children in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State and Kwa Zulu Natal. Some of the organisations that we worked with include Greenfields, The Department of Health in Limpopo, South African Optometric Association, The African Council Of Optometry, Kathorus Baptist Church.
